Pneuma is an exploration of the relationship between the spirit and the body. The idea that one is not synonymous with the other and that spirits are placed in bodies only to be recycled into another, time and time again. Brandon Thompson's photography focuses on the material of the spirit or the language of the universe. The mystic behavior of both humanity and the abstruse forces that govern us that often go undetected by our senses is brought to light through Thompson's work. In contrast, Xoey Thomas Lang's work looks at the vessel of the spirit, the body. Using malleable material like clay and foliage to create both organic and geometric forms that have a unique take on what houses the receptacle of our consciousness. The word "Pneuma" means spirit or creative force in stoic thought. Both Thompson and Lang's work brings this notion to the next level in this two-person exhibition.
